amazing chem guide!

I have a HORRIBLE AP chemistry teacher. He has the attention span of a six year old, enjoys being unfair just to hear his students groan in anguish, and has repeatedly not finished his lectures but given us a test anyways. However, this book is a life saver (although he hates it). The class average for tests in his class is a D (not plus or minus), so he adds points into his grade-book to raise them to C's so his learning directors don't get upset at him. However, because he prefers to just do "demonstrations" (lighting things on fire and playing with illegal fireworks in doors instead of teaching) we never learn anything. So, instead of paying attention to him I've taken to reading the out dated textbook's chapter on the subject we're supposed to be learning, and then studying using this book.
It's fantastic because:
--It covers each topic by chapter.
--Each chapter is succinct and to the point. This book can teach you a concept your textbook takes four pages to tell you in a quarter of that.
--The beginning of each chapter lists the important equations of the subject, making it easy to create formula flashcards for memorization.
--There are practice quizzes at the end of each chapter as well as a glossary.
Last week I alternated between paying attention to his "lectures" and reviewing with this. I got a C on the test. Now, I'm going to pay attention to only this and see how much my grade goes up.
tl;dr: This book is a great review guide in conjunction with a textbook, and easily explains complex concepts. It's making the difference between failing or passing my chem class.

Friendly and effective approach to studying

Five steps to a 5 are really well written and take a more friendly approach to these AP subjects than the Barron's ones. They talk things out in a logical and relatable manner and make good examples to draw on to explain concepts. While this book doesn't have that many practice tests, the answers are well responded to and this book is well paired with a Barron's one just for the practice tests.
The planner this book has is really good and provides outlines for different time periods including T-1 year, T-1 semester, and T-6 weeks, so you can budget your time.

Aligned with new curriculum as advertised!

This book definitely matches the new exam format, unlike many of the other review books currently available. I gave it 4 not 5 stars because I was hoping for a little more related to the new content (and there are still some of the excluded topics left over from last year's edition). My students find it easy to read and a good supplement to their other review materials.
