The choice of the thirsty for application.

This exercise-filled deterministic optimization course book was my introduction to linear, integer and non-linear programming, and also taught me a lot of what I know about general linear algebra. It (the book) can be very hard to read for the novice, and should be considered a source of raw practice problems and examples. In lack of substance this is often a resort to some authors, but Murty has done it well. The examples are widely useful and interesting and should be considered a goldmine for any professor teaching optimization or trying to compile an exam for graduate students. To digest it's bulk text one should be familiar whith the language of mathematics in order not having to stop to breathe or having to go for a walk every once in a while.

This is a good collection of articles and research works done perfectly to improve the knowledge practioners already has. I'm reading and getting so excited with information. There are little things here and there on the farm that sometimes we do not pay much attention to, but in reality they mean alot. I will recommend this book for dairy herd professioners and managers.

Excellent!

This is an excellent guide for coaches working with clinical teams to train them on a process improvement model that most industries outside healthcare have used for decades. The tools described are simple to use, and the concepts are clearly stated for anyone not familiar with microsystem theory and background. The effect of using the described method is a palpable change in culture. The book contains an actual strategy for training interdisciplinary teams with the associated curriculum to empower interdisciplinary frontline teams to measure, monitor, and manage their own performance. Useful for coaches as well as team members.

Cohen is probably best known as the writer of the lyrics for the song "Suzanne," made famous by Judy Collins, but has written a great many other songs, too, as well as poetry and prose poetry not set to music. In reading through this generous selection, one often hears the ghost of musical accompaniment, and sometimes its actual presence is missed. The writing alone, forthright in its rhythms, plain of speech, often rhymed, and almost immediately accessible, seems well suited to the ears of a live audience. So fans of the songs will be in luck, here; but readers who prefer slow subtleties, or a kind of poetry that gradually expands in meaning on rereading, or ambitious craft, won't find it in a piece like "For Anne," which begins "With Annie gone, / Whose eyes to compare / With the morning sun?" Cohen's writing is oral in flavor, and asks us to "read" it mainly by hearing it. This works to the disadvantage of a book, where words stay put and aren't sung.

To appreciate these poems, we must suspend any notions of poetry as an intellectual art form and approach this work as one would a rack of greeting cards. Rhyme abounds, frankly showing Cohen at his best because it holds his didactic nature in check. Although there are few surprises, such as the wonderful early poem "Beneath My Hands," the songs from Cohen's first album, written over 30 years ago, are still his finest displays of outrageous yet stunning imagery. The presence of woman as lover, prostitute, or slave, celebrated in these early songs, continues into his latest work, making over 400 pages seem remarkably flimsy. That these women never seem to exist as individuals will possibly offend readers with a feminist bent. Yet despite almost pornographic descriptions, this Jewish poet still will not write outG-d's name. The Buddhist element in his 1984 poetry collection, Book of Mercy , is now scarcely evident. Despite its flaws, this book is recommended for popular collections.

Cohen is known best as a songwriter--everyone's heard "Suzanne"--and a performer, but he is also a poet with eight collections to his credit. This fine volume brings together a great number of Cohen's striking poems and memorable song lyrics from 1956 to the present, including lyrics from his newest album, The Future, which is one his most powerful and exciting releases. Reading Cohen is just as pleasurable as listening to him, especially since his writing has an aural energy. Cohen is direct and precise, a no-fuss-no-muss sort of poet who gets the maximum meaning out of homey words and an invigorating jolt out of clashing images. By turns caustic and charming, Cohen is often caught between the magnetic poles of love and art, claiming in an early poem, "The reason I write/is to make something/as beautiful as you are." He's too experienced to be truly romantic, but he still longs for innocence and purity and frequently writes about faith and redemption. Politics creep in when Cohen muses over class differences and war, but he most often focuses on the subtle palette of emotions from loneliness to passion, bitter humor to serenity. Donna Seaman

Need to search for items better next time

Received the hardback when I was trying to find the paperback version. Still made a great gift though for a friend who was in the hospital at the time. I've bought and lost two copies of this book now myself now but oh well. Having discovered his work long ago in high school, I didn't stumble across this book till shortly after my college graduation. I'm glad I did.
Anyone looking to explore L. Cohen's work though cannot go wrong starting with this book. It covers the man's best known material and dozens of lesser known works as well. There is a variety of subject matters, tones, and even moods covered in Leonard Cohen's work. I would dare say there is probably something here for everyone. Really good way to expand one's knowledge of what "poetry" and "spoken word" is capable of being (and should be) for the reader, the writer, and the speaker.

Fantastic Collection & Perfect 1st Cohen Book to Buy

One of my top gift items: Turn people on to this book. It is a terrific, full anthology that includes much out-of-print material. The poetry is stylistically wide in scope (from how-did-he-do that perfect to sparse, intense, free-verse); it has unique, emotionally-driven language choices, rhythm and content. Its tenor is lugubrious, and its subject matter tends toward sex and religion.

This, as opposed to his individual books of poetry: The individual books are typically short and some are wonderful -- each is very different, thus liked by different tastes. If you don't own any Cohen books, buy this first -- it's got great poems (plus clips of prose, as from "Beautiful Losers"). The chapters are laid out by book and album title (lyrics are here, too); therefore, if/when you want another book after, you will know which one. One thing I don't like about it is the change in poem titles from their originals.

This books ends when Cohen is in his 50's, at least in the previously unpublished poems at the end -- so, before the monastery part of his life, though religion is well part of him (he is Orthodox Jewish and views his Buddhism as compatible with his Judaism). I'm not much a fan of his post-monastery work, and if I have one regret it's that I discovered Leonard Cohen within the past ten years, and never got to see him live.

Know, too, that Cohen was a published poet--well-known in Canada--before he recorded music. He began to play guitar while reading poetry -- it went over well!

I had a high school friend call me in my 30s. Hadn't been in touch for years. She said, plaintively,
"Hi, I just had to talk to someone who knew who Leonard Cohen was." :> Maybe they are easier to
find now. That was in the 1980s.

He's a remarkable man and his poems and songs are very dip-in-able, again and again.
It is inspiring that he can trust his pen, his paper and his heart/mind to just lay it out there.

"Must have" book for everybody

This book is a perfect medical vocabulary for the common people who have no special medical education. It is very useful for daily life and it is written in easy (non difficult scientific) way. So nobody must be a medical worker, because this book is for everyone and here you can find description of whatever you need. Easy explanations make this book understandable and interesting for all readers.
From the book you will learn how to READ and UNDERSTAND the medical definitions, using prefixes and you will learn how to construct them by yourself, using some simple knowledge.
I highly recommend this book, because, in my opinion, everybody should be a bit educated in the medicine field or at least have a medical vocabulary at home in case of some emergency situation. Also, this book will be very useful for students who supposed to enter ina few years a medical college.

Very Easy to Understand

I This book had what I was looking for. It has taught me that medical terminology is made up of root words, prefixes, and suffixes. To understand the terminology, the systems to which it is associated must first be understand.

It was very easy to find what is needed since it is well organized. In the introduction the medical terminology is explained carefully. It covered on how to deconstruct a medical term and decipher its meaning and how to pluralize the term.

I am able to understand the logic of medical terminology, its etymology, acronyms, eponyms, homonyms, and formation of plurals. I find its origin or etymology really interesting. It also does have illustrations. There are medical terms of the body systems included in the illustrations and medical terms related to body structure and organization which made it easier to understand.

I knew that medical terminologies are hard and complicated and should be left for people in those professions until came across this book on Amazon. The author has really simplified the medical terminology and they are now understandable to all lay me. It is amazing how I can be able to follow and understand this terminologies. This book made me realize that there is nothing one cannot get under the sun as long as you develop interest and you find people like the author of this book who make it easy for others. Thoroughly explained - Excellent book

I read this book cover to cover.

There is so much history in the book, well explained, it made me see how far back we have have been dealing with injustice across the world.

Prejudice, discrimination, oppression in all it's forms throughout the ages, including issues related to race, religion, gender and more. Every chapter is bringing historical facts making us realize how we are the way we are, and how we can learn to change this behavior.

Learning the roots of the problems is key, and this book does an excellent job at describing every aspect of our social backgrounds.

Definitely an important book to take into the classroom and a definite read for those of you who want to be part of the change.

Much better than a tour!

I am so glad I started reading this book a few months before our trip to Rome. Although I have never been much of a "Art History Enthusiast," this resource will make your visit to the Vatican Museum more meaningful. Even if you don't plan to visit the VM anytime soon, it's a great resource for those who want art and history to co-mingle and come alive!

Chass� de l'�quipe de quidditch et ridiculis� par le minist�re de la Magie, Harry doit �galement combattre les images que parvient � immiscer dans son cerveau Lord Voldemort, bel et bien vivant, et plus mena�ant que jamais. Et pour couronner le tout, voil� que Harry se retrouve afflig� d'une timidit� qui le transforme en poireau devant la belle Cho Chang.

Pla�ant son jeune h�ros dans une position impossible, entre un gouvernement de la magie incomp�tent et une �cole impuissante, J. K. Rowling r�ussit un portrait saisissant de l'adolescence. Harry's Transition to Adulthood, Growing French Level

This is, again, a perfect means to improve your French grammar for any anglophone who has fallen in love with the series in English. Reading it in French is just as pleasurable as in English, as the translation is superb. The names of characters, in particular, make this book worth the read in French. Furthermore, as the series progresses to have a more adult overtone, the level of French becomes more grammatically difficult, allowing for better incorporation of the French language. By no means is this book difficult to read in French, yet it is a perfect way, again, to improve your language skills as well as to reenter the world of Harry Potter!

Harry est d�cevant. Pas l'histoire. Le personnage. In�vitable effet de l'explosion de l'adolescence chez lui et du renversement des appr�ciations qui l'accompagne. Effet dramatique d'une r�alit� humaine habilement et lucidement pr�sent�e par l'auteur. Celle-ci demeure cependant fid�le et lucide envers celui qu'elle a enfant�, pardonnant l'impardonnable, ouverte � son cheminement vers la maturit�, et conduisant ses lecteurs � faire de m�me.

I bought it used, but there were just a few bent pages and it was otherwise in perfect condition. I'm in my fourth year of high school French, but I can understand it without a dictionary; I would recommend using a dictionary or side-by-side reading with the English version though, you can be sure you're not mistranslating words from the context. The translation is pretty direct, and it's fun to read. Looking forward to getting the other books in the series as soon as I finish this one.
