Kindle edition has issues

This is a nice cookbook with some good recipes and some pretty weird ones, but the Kindle edition is formatted horribly. Th pictures ar teeny tiny (like some are less than 1/2" square, that's not a typo or exaggeration - see photo, that tiny little colored square is a photo.) And then some of the illustrations are huge and blurry. Many of the photos you can't even click on to enlarge because they are too close to the edge of the page and it just flips to the next page. I'll be trying to get my money back.

The single best cookbook that I own and I own a lot

The single best cookbook that I own and I own a lot! The only thing that would make this book better is to list the nutritional information in the book, or reference where it is online. For someone that is allergic to cane sugar and artificial sugars, this book hits the mark. The recipes are sweetened with natural fruit, beets, coconut, coconut milk, and brown rice syrup--all perfect ingredients without rocking my blood sugar. I'm also diabetic and gluten free and almond meal is the ideal ingredient included in many recipes. The Boc Bites are awesome; I've made three variations so far. I added bacon, dry onion and poppy seeds and about 1/4 cup of egg whites. It's the perfect breakfast. Oh, and the pumpkin oatmeal was already awesome, but adding a few cut up cherries makes it to die for. I am so excited about this book that I have convinced all my family that they need a copy. Sarah, hats off to you!! Thank you for creating tasty recipes that I can have.

I love it....in theory

Many of my concerns about this diet are addressed in other people's reviews for I Quit Sugar 8 week detox book: warnings about most whole fruits, usage of brown rice syrup, not a comprehensive program, etc.
A lot of the recipes look great and I love the idea of cutting out processed foods of any kind, but I cannot see this working very well in a family with small children. Kids are notoriously picky eaters for the most part. The reality of getting children to like and eat these foods is so very different than the adorable photo of Wilson's niece and nephew helping make the healthy breakfast pictured in the book. Not only that, but now your food prep is way longer than ever before if you want to make any of the recipes because you need to make your own whey and almond meal and track down hard-to-find items that all of the recipes are built on. And because no one else in your family wants to eat most of this stuff (despite the fact that much of it is yummy) now you have even more food to prepare and cook. This lifestyle works for Wilson because she has no children and if she did, they would start life eating this way...this lifestyle is a full time job if you have a family....not to mention crazy expensive. california doesn't discount your dinged up fruits and veggies.
It is a beautiful book and I plan to incorporate changes that are sustainable whenever possible, but as a whole diet overhaul for the fam, it is unrealistic. We all can make healthier choices for our families, but not all of us have time to make 2 of every meal.

Crystal Clear Content, A+ Work

I just got on Amazon to find the ISBN so I could recommend this book to a friend, and I was appalled at the low reviews this book has. I am here to do it justice. As a student in the field of Information Science and Technology, I found this book extremely helpful. It really does teach Java from the ground up, assuming no prior knowledge of programming. The author presents information in three ways: main content, extra "special topics" that add on to the main content, and common errors that you will probably make along the way. This book is on the expensive side, but it's well worth it. This book is loaded with content and added extras to give the reader good programming practices and a light background in the history of computers. This was my textbook for an introductory Java course at my college, and I couldn't be more satisfied with how easy it was to find everything I needed to reference. The chapters are meaty, and you will learn about each topic in full before moving on to the next. Between the content of this book and a good professor, I have become a confident Java programmer. This book is what you need whether your working by yourself or in a classroom setting.

I got this book for class but even when the class was over I did not get rid of it. It is a great reference book. The information is laid out well and the book explains things very well. It is not a great book for more graphic programs because it does not go into detail, but for getting started with Java this book is great.

Big Java 4th Edition

I like the book. However, did not realize that it was a student book. There is an option to get access to the teacher section of the website in the book ONLY IF you are a teacher at an authorized site. Otherwise forget it.

Not so bad really being that in the real world you won't have the answers any way. Having paid as much money as I did for this book it would have been nice to see the answers and to have access to the teacher pages. As I bought this book to be self taught not as a student.

Good illustrations. I think it will be a good book regardless of the lack of being able to access the teacher's side of the website the book mentions.

Tim Crothers is a former senior writer at Sports Illustrated. He is the author of The Queen of Katwe: One Girl’s Triumphant Path to Becoming a Chess Champion and The Man Watching, the biography of University of North Carolina women’s soccer coach Anson Dorrance, and coauthor of Hard Work, the autobiography of UNC basketball coach Roy Williams. A great story however

A great story however, the text did not flow easily from one subject to another. At times the story was difficult to follow. On the other side of that the book raises awareness as to the issues and hardships the people of Uganda face daily. The story also created within me a desire to seek out ways in which I as an individual might be able to assist the organization mentioned in the book to make life easier for the children of Katwe.

More than the story of one girl's path to chess championship.

This is a thoughtfully written book by Tim Crothers, former senior writer at Sports Illustrated.

Caveats:
If you do not believe in or are offended by the Judeo/Christian God, then you will not enjoy this book. It is neither preachy nor religious, but it does contain some Christian vocabulary and phrases here and there.
If you are looking for a book on how one girl achieved chess Candidate for Grand Master at the age of 14, how and what chess books she studied to achieve what she achieved, hoping to use them to improve your own progress or to give to someone else to help them progress - you will probably be disappointed - read a different book. The girl, Phiona, is not introduced until the third chapter.

It is the inspirational story of the many lives, their successes and failures, the poverty and politics in Uganda, the plight of girls and women in Uganda slums and the working of God through people though it all. It is about how one girl and many other people whose experiences, consciously or unconsciously, played parts in revealing this astounding girl's intelligence and wit in chess tournaments and Olympiads, leading to her become a Candidate for Grand Master at the age of 14 in the 2010 Chess Olympiad in Siberia. Phiona herself gives her personal advice to other chess players in the first two pages of the last four pages of the book (depending on which edition you read).

If you enjoy reading about the lives of others in far away places, mostly Uganda, then you will enjoy this book.

If you like to read about a poor girl from a Uganda slum, who without being able to study books about chess or learn from chess software or the internet, makes it to her first Olympiad when she is 14 in 2010 and then on to a second in Istanbul in 2012, then you will enjoy and may be inspired by this book.

Amazing story! At beginning it was a tough read ...

Amazing story! At beginning it was a tough read due to the hard life described of several generations in Ugandan slum. But this is a story that needs to be told! We are so isolated in the West. The story of chess and the personalities involved, as well as the rise of Phiona and her amazing talent is a phenomenal story! The approach of the missionaries was interesting and practical - they came to help and participate in the community for the long haul. Should be required reading!

This is a great book for milliners

This is a great book for milliners. It is very stylish and offers variations on fascinators. It is one of the best millinery books to come out in a long time. I hope that the author is working on another book.

It looks like so much fun

What a great book! I have been looking for something just like this, and I'm so happy I bought it. I'm planning a wedding this year and while there are so many things I would be happy to buy and/or order (like dresses for the bridesmaids, etc) I really wanted to do something like this with the bridesmaids, and I know that when we make these together (and it doesn't look all that hard to make your own fascinator) we will treasure these for the rest of our lives. Can't wait to begin making them!

I would buy from them again

I bought a textbook that was labeled, "Good" and when I recieved it, it was actually brand new and felt like it had never been opened. They shipped my book a day or two after I ordered, so I recieved it in less than a week. I will buy my books from this seller anytime again!
